Dictionary Synchronization

Dictionary Synchronization

Postby john.buckley » Thu Dec 22, 2011 11:47 am

It is my impression that the 'vanilla' dictionary sync interface between EHR & PMS includes CPT/Charge codes but does not include ICD-9s. If this is correct, is there any rationale behind that from either a technical challenge (like medcin version) or would it be an operational concern?

thanks.

Speaking from an Allscripts PM perspective I think it is a technical limitation in that there is not a trigger event built into the application for ICD9 codes like there is for procedure codes. The trigger events are what allow data to be exported from Allscripts PM through AIE. I'm not sure the underlying reason why they never developed this trigger event. We always updated our PM system and then updated EHR based on what we had just updated in PM so it seems logical to me to have this trigger event. See screenshot for available trigger events.
