Clustering Allscripts SQL Server

Clustering Allscripts SQL Server

Postby cyngerson » Tue Apr 26, 2011 11:36 am

Client would like to cluster the Allscripts SQL server using Windows Clustering and SQL Server Clustering. Questions:

1-Is clustering the ASSQL server supported by Allscripts?
2-If so, are there certain configurations that are only supported?
3-Is there any documentation from Allscripts that need to be followed when clustering this database server to ensure that client will still be supported?

Thanks

We verified with them that a clustered SQL instance is supported and included what our thoughts were. This was initially when were were running EEHR 11.2.3, but it has been recently requalified for 11.4.0.

We have two HP DL380G7s running Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 using the Microsoft Clustering Services. Our SQL Instance, at the time of install was running SQL 2008 R2 with SP1 and has since been upgraded to 2008R2 with SP2 for 11.4 compatibility.

Our cluster maintained the old Windows name and IP, which resulted in no configuration changes being needed anyplace else.
